What is Blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty is often referred to as eyelid surgery. This surgical procedure can be performed on the upper eyelid, the lower eyelid, or both eyelids. This is a cosmetic surgery that is often used to correct drooping eyelids and bags under the eyes. When eyelids droop severely, they can obstruct vision. Many patients who complain of always looking tired find that blepharoplasty can be a good solution for this issue.
How Does Blepharoplasty Work?
Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure, and can only be performed by a qualified surgeon. The patient will be under anesthesia, which consists of an IV with local sedation. This means that the patient will doze lightly through the procedure and will not be in pain. During the procedure, the surgeon will excise the excess skin and fat from the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both. The skin will then be repositioned and secured into place with sutures that are removed approximately two weeks later.
