Dr. Katsman Joined Glendale Eye Medical group in 2022 to bring her expertise in diseases of the retina and vitreous to our patients.
Dr. Katsman was born in Lithuania and moved to Los Angeles, CA as a teenager. She completed her undergraduate studies at UCLA where she then pursued Ph.D. studies researching the use of Stem Cells to restore retina in such conditions as age-related macular degeneration, retinal strokes, and diabetic retinopathy. Her research work resulted in publications in top science journals, presentations at national and international meetings, and the filing of a patent for novel stem cell therapies for degenerative eye diseases. She continues to be involved in the development of clinical knowledge and novel therapies to help her patients attain optimal results.
Dr. Katsman completed her ophthalmology residency training at the UCLA Stein Eye Institute. She then went on to complete a Vitreo-Retinal Disease and Surgery Fellowship at Loma Linda University, mentored by the internationally renowned leaders in the field.
Dr. Katsman is passionate about leading community health initiatives and international missionary work. She was involved in missions as a volunteer surgeon in Mexico, and organized a mission to rural Guatemala as a medical director, bringing vision care to the remote regions of the country with the greatest need.
In her free time, Dr. Katsman enjoys kayaking and paddleboarding with her son, traveling, yoga, and fitness. She is involved in multiple charitable organizations, aiming to bring healthcare to remote areas of the world, and serves on the board of research organizations helping recognize and bring to market the most promising therapies.
